For his livelihood, my father partnered with his brother Yitzchak in business and they were quite successful. Proportionate to their success was their generosity in supporting the needy. They were especially generous with itinerant travellers who were passing through [the city of Trieste], for whom their home was always open—to the point where it came to be known colloquially as “The house of Abraham our father.”
